Our Board of Directors

The Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences has surrounded itself with passionate, smart, experienced people who can help us grow in our vision and improve our processes to provide all who suffer from orofacial myofunctional disorders the proper care. In collaboration with the AAMS, we seek to build and maintain a Board of Directors that has a wide range of experiences, competencies and perspectives. Along with our various societies and our growing member involvement, the board of directors is helping us shape the future of myofunctional therapy through research, networking relationships, education, public awareness, through an ongoing demonstration of competency and standards.

Executive Board

Trinn Jagomägi, President

Triin Jagomägi graduated from the University of Tartu, Estonia in 1993 with DDS in stomatology, soon after that from University of Kuopio, Finland with master’s degree (MSc) in Orthodontics in 1995. In 2005 she got diploma of Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth RCSEd) by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. In January 2012 she acquired PhD in medicine from the University of Tartu, Estonia. Currently she works as Associate Professor and Researcher at the Institute of Dentistry by the University of Tartu, the same time also being head of the orthodontic postgraduate training. Since 2000 she has also been working as orthodontist and head of the Ortodontiakeskus clinic in Tartu (private practice), which has recently changed its name to Unimed United Clinics.

Eliana Rivera, Vice-President

Eliana Rivera Capacho is a Phonoaudiologist, specialist in Clinical Hearing, has a Master in Quality Management in Higher Education, she is currently a student of the Doctorate program in Education at the Universidad Experimental Pedagógica del Libertador UPEL – Venezuela. She has been a member of the Institutional Accreditation Support Group since 2014. She covered the positions of Dean of the Faculty of Health of the University of Pamplona, Representative of the Deans before the Academic Council, Member of the Board of Directors of the Institution that Provides Health Services of the University of Pamplona – IPS Unipamplona, Director of the Phonoaudiology programs at the Manuela Beltrán University in Bogotá and at the University of Pamplona. She has been a Coordinator of Practices of the Phonoaudiology Program and co-founder of the Undergraduate Academic Program in Phonoaudiology at the University of Pamplona. She has been the Editor of the Scientific Journal Signals (Siglos) since 2014 and Director of the Human Communication research group since 2010.

Nicole Archambault, Secretary

Nicole is an ASHA board certified speech-language pathologist, orofacial myofunctional therapist, and sleep literacy advocate. She is the founder and executive director of Minds In Motion and a teaching assistant in the Graduate School of Education’s Mind, Brain, & Teaching program at Johns Hopkins University. Nicole is an executive committee member of the Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences (AAMS), and the myofunctional therapy section leader for the American Academy of Physiological Medicine & Dentistry (AAPMD). She is a national speaker on sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in pediatrics and has lectured to various professional organizations on orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) as clinical markers for SDB and its overall impact on childhood functions. Nicole has focused her efforts on raising awareness and building collaboration amongst disciplines on their interdisciplinary roles in the screening and management of SDB. She also writes professional articles on this topic. Nicole is a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins University.

Kirk Kollmann, Treasurer

Dr. Kirk Kollmann graduated from the University of Florida College of Dentistry and received his pediatric dental degree from Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Keeping with his hospital background, he is a clinical instructor and volunteers his time working with the Cleft Palate – Craniofacial Team at Children’s Memorial Hospital. Dr. Kollmann has taken extensive continuing education in the field of Orafacial Myofunctional Therapist by the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. He serves as a spokesperson for the Chicago Dental Society and is involved in various aspects of organized dentistry. He loves to be the do-it-yourself craftsman, being proficient in electricity, carpentry, woodworking, plumbing, etc. Computers and gadgets are another one of his hobbies. He holds great respect for his partner Dr. Furusho.

Karen Spruyt, PhD | France
Katrina Rogers, SLT | United Kingdom

Professor Karen Spruyt, PhD, National Institute of Medicine and Health (INSERM), Medical Faculty, University of Lyon, Lyon Neurosciences Research Center earned her degree in child, adolescent, and adult clinical psychology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. She has published more than 60 papers in SCI journals, 2 books on pediatric sleep and has been invited to give lectures at international sleep conferences in many countries around the world.

Katrina is a specialist speech and language therapist working as a Consultant in Dysphagia in Kent Community NHS Foundation Trust. She has an independent practice, and trained as an orofacial myofunctional practitioner. She is an honorary lecturer at Christchurch University, Greenwich for Paediatric Dysphagia. 2019 winner of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship where she will be tasked with exploring how to establish OMT in the NHS of the UK.

Sharon Moore, SLP | Australia
Brigitte Fung, PT | Hong Kong

Sharon Moore Speech Pathologist has 30 years of clinical experience as a Speech Pathologist in Australia and overseas, across a range of clinical settings, including: Education Department, Child Psychiatry, Independent Schools Board, Cochlear Ltd., Private Practice, School for Hearing Impaired, The Canberra Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital in Westminster, London. She has worked with adults, teens and children, with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders. Sharon has been lecturer by invitation at Flinders University S.A., University of Adelaide S.A., Macquarie University Sydney, Australian Society of Orthodontics, Dental Hygiene Association of Australia Inc, Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists Association and numerous local forums in the ACT.

Brigitte Fung graduated with a professional diploma in physiotherapy. Master degree in science of exercise and nutrition science was granted in 2003. She is also a certified Lymphatic Therapist and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist. She was also the clinical educator of the master of physiotherapy in China. She was presented with the Golden Jubilee Award by the Hong Kong physiotherapy association in 2013 in recognition of her contribution to the profession. Recently she has been actively involved in providing service to children with a special interest in the research and management of sleep disordered breathing and dysfunctional breathing with Orofacial myofunctional therapy and Buteyko breathing reeducation. Silke Anna Theresa Weber is an Adjunt Professor for Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Botucatu Medical School-FMB, UNESP, Botucatu,SP, Brazil. Coordinator of the Sleep Lab at the university hospital “Hospital das Clínicas HCFMB Botucatu” and the research line in Sleep breathing disorders at the program “Surgery and Translational medicine”, member of the ERS Task Force group of paediatric sleep breathing disorders.
